"They should be
teaching this to us in school. I thought I was setting my goals
but your SMART forrmula showed me I was just living in a dream.
Now I can take control
and I know it's just a matter of time." T.
Leggard, Affilliate Marketer
Let's face
it. We're not
perfect nor is it easy to remember massive amounts of
information.
Afterall
we're not a computer and we only currently use 10% of
our Brain. We certainly don't handle
the stress of the
details in our life very well when
we are under the gun either. We do however, have
the ability
to make it easier on ourselves if we choose. We just have to
decide.

Development & You
The Basic Strategic Self
Management System is
designed to get you to your long term objective
without the details slipping through. Remember - success is in
the details. Young or old it's never to late to review, adjust
and take action
towards your renewed commitment to yourself! The process is
really quite simple.

Choose today
to be the best you can by giving yourself permission to express
and grow with openness and desire. Challenge
yourself to experience your life in
your way.
If you fail
to listen to your own values, you will lose the satisfaction in
your
life. Your peace with yourself will
become unbalanced which equates to the loss of your peace of mind.
You will
know immediately when you are out of alignment with your values for you
start
to become irritable, tired and your stress levels start to rise
dramatically.
If your
number one value is spending time with your family, but you spend 99%
of your
time working and doing things away from them, you are out of alignment
with
your value system. In this case, you
would immediately implement a goal to spend more time with your family.
Perhaps you
can volunteer to be the coach of your son’s little league team – or
find the
time to watch his favorite show with him. Perhaps little Sara could use
some
help learning her lines for the school play. Perhaps
you could dedicate one night a week to
family night. Whatever activity you decide
it would assist
you in realigning your goals to your present values.
It’s okay to
follow what others are doing. The only
time you need to be concerned is if you find it is affecting your own
values in
life. Your values are the very areas
bringing you the greatest pleasure. Things
which you have the highest regard for. The
tasks which are determined to have great
worth in your life. It is where you will
dedicate most of your time.
These areas
can include spending time with family, increasing your education,
working on
your personal development, spending time with your pet, gardening, advancing
your career, owning your own business.

Take a few
minutes to do this exercise. List below
your top (5) values in life.

You are now
able to identify whether or not your values
are in alignment. If so – GREAT! If not, perhaps you can start to develop
goals in the areas you feel you are neglecting.
Often in my
workshops, a participant will list one of
their values as having a strong, healthy body. What
they realize, by completing this
exercise, is that they frequently
forget to spend any time in ensuring this is accomplished.
They may
find themselves rushing through lunch (generally
junk food) trying to meet a business deadline. They
fail to implement a regular exercise
program, or take the time to
rest and let the body regenerate. They
think, “there’s always tomorrow.”
This is
called hit and miss. If you truly value
what you say, you will
develop specific goals and action plans to ensure you are accomplishing
your goals
in relation to your values.
The
motivation is a strong healthy body one of the goals
to accomplishing this might be to exercise 10 times this month. The accomplishment of the goal is you
exercised 10 times this month – but the benefit over time is you worked
at
developing a healthy body.
